Why Condi vs Hillary? What’s the big deal?

Are you kidding me?! Is this some big fundraising scheme? What’s the big deal!? I almost hung up on the last person that asked me that. (sorry mom) History is being made on our watch. I mean let’s face it no woman has even come close to being nominated by a major party let alone been taken seriously. (see Geraldine Ferraro, hmm where is she now. I think they will be airing that special on VH1 soon). Ok, she ran as VP for the Democratic side but she and Mondale lost to Reagan / Bush in a landslide.

But I digress. 

The fact that two powerful accomplished women would be in line to compete for the top position in the most powerful country in the world should not be a big deal in 2006. Women run successful businesses, hold top offices in all branches of the US Government as well as top positions of power in several foreign countries. BUT IT IS A BIG DEAL!!!!

Let’s look closer at this race to see what else makes this the one to watch. One of these women is African American! Yes, I said it. I mentioned the one thing that no one from either side will bring up. (guess that’s why I’m firmly entrenched in the middle) Not to mention Condoleezza Rice would be running as the REPUBLICAN Candidate. What are you going to do now David Duke? 

Oh boy have we come a long way baby!

By the way Condi, as she is affectionately referred to by those afraid of misspelling her name, is not married. We have never had a Presidential wedding. Picture this, you meet a nice single lady at the club only to find out that she is President of the United States!!! Not going home with her buddy! And she is not coming to your place.

The other candidate Hillary Clinton, is an ex First Lady and current Senator for New York State whose husband President Bill Clinton, bka: The First Black President, according to Toni Morrison, was impeached for playing hide the cigar with an intern. (Why Bill? Why Monica Lewinski? Hope it was a Cuban Cigar)

Need I say more? This race is better than any feature film could ever hope to be. Think of the commercial value of the movies of the week. Wake up Valerie Bertinelli there is a big part coming to a script near you.

So there it is. We are interested in this for several reasons. 

• We are political junkies looking for a daily fix
• History is being made during our lifetime!!!!
• We want to help Dick Morris sell more books.
• We are bored with men from the same Fraternal lineage campaigning against each other, acting like they don’t like each other, knowing damn well that they share the same secret handshake and meet once a year to discuss how to run the world. See: The Secret Society That Unites John Kerry and President Bush
• Irony: Dems can’t say the Republicans are a white man’s party. What are they going to say to try to discount Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice?
• Will David Duke vote for Condoleezza Rice? Duke’s view of Condi before you discount him and his supporters out of hand remember he was elected to the Louisiana State Legislature
• Will Jessie Jackson vote for Hillary the Democrat or support Condi as the first black President?
• Race: the one thing no one wants to talk about will be front and center. 
• Are we really ready? 
• Will the quiet minority of racists rear their ugly robed heads?  Will African Americans step up and speak out against those attacking Condi on racial grounds or stay silent. See what happened to Lt Governor Michael Steele
• Picture the parties Bill Clinton will have as First Man! (had to do it) Can we get tickets to the Ball?
